John Battles
John Battles was born April 20th, 1721 in Plymouth Massachusetts. John and his wife Hannah Curtis married on November 16, 1749. He had three sons; two of which served, John Jr. and Asa, in the American Revolution. His sons are John, Asa, and Curtis. Two of the boys moved to Randolph Vermont and settled there. They are buried on Braintree Hill. He enlisted May 1st 1775. He assisted as a private in Massachusetts under Captain William Brigg's company, Col. Joseph Read's Regiment; muster role dated August 1st , 1775. Service 3 months, 7 days, also company return dated Roxbury, September 26, 1775. He died in 1792.
