George Irish

George Irish was born in Little Compton, Rhode Island in 1729.  He married Sarah Babcock in 1757. They lived in Middletown, Rhode Island, and they had 11 children.

George Irish was a colonel of the Rhode Island Militia.  He was a trader, farmer, and horse dealer in Rhode Island and Connecticut.  George Irish died October 11, 1801. His Middletown, RI home was known as the John Banister House and the Irish Homestead. The home was kept in the family until Caitlyn’s great grandmother deeded the home to the Winterthur Museum, Wilmington, Delaware where aspects of the home’s structure are preserved.
